FOOD!!!

Believe me. I am not always so confused. It has taken me 10 minutes just to decide what to write. This is my first serious blog mind you. I started to write about Madurai, which I call my native place, but how it was Tirunelveli where I was born. Ah I was not going anywhere.

Then I thought writing about Anna Nagar wouldnt be that bad...thats my residence now in chennai. I will save it for another blog. Interesting subject though.

I will tell u whats most interesting in my life. FOOD.

I have a passion for food. Good food. Good Variety of food. Tasty even. I once even carried a reputation of knowing the best eateries in any given area in chennai. I would get a call on my mob - would be my old college friend - only to ask me "Macha...Im stuck in Mogappair machi...and Im so hungry...can u tell me where I can have good food...?" Well, I would charge him later for my service, but for now he can have the information. "ANCHOR" I say. With directions. A satisfied customer, my friend.

No these hotels dont pay me.

Places I really really relish having food at.

1. Parrys Attho - Attho, I am told is a malaysian food which looks like noodles, tastes more or less like noodles, but is not noodles. They mix so manby interesting things in it and serve it in a plate and a spoon - no fork - its shear heaven. If you like the "Banana trunk soup" (VAAZHA THANDU soup), - its free - you just visited Jannath.

Atho Fry is a variety of Attho - Attho made more interesting. Its a little more spicy, warmer even without the soup mix, add some BAIJO (THAT IS SOMETHING LIKE malaysian MURUKKU)...wow so mouth watering.

so repeat after me. Attho. Attho Fry. Baijo.

They also have boiled egg slit open slightly to accommodate some spicy mix. You will not stop thanking me for enlightening your world. Please dont mention it.

Have a Keerni fruit juice from the next shop after the Attho hunt. It will satisfy your thirst and make u feel light. one MUG of the juice only 10 rupees. and after uve gulped in half the mug,...they surprise you sometimes by pouring more juice they couldnt fill before.

I brought Attho into the lives of many. My cousin Sarfy, my friends Manoj, Saravanan, Vamsi, Joyas, Anbu, Mohideen,.....so many. They are crazy about attho now.

FYI...Amin and I are going to Attho on 31st August.

2. Triplicane Charminar Biryani

Thiruvallikkeni Rani illai it is Biriyani. My friends come from Tambaram to have this biryani. There used to be a hotel near ice house police station called "GALAXY" Krishna, Ashok and I would hunt there for broasted chicken - 7 mintues flat. sorry got distracted. coming back to Charminar. Yes you got to adjust standing and having ur stuff when theres too much rush. Its worth every grain that manages to enter your faculty under your nose.

3. This is for the posh people..maybe planning your date?

Greams road "Sea Shells". Go for grilled chicken and mint lime juice.

4. Hotel Crescent - Nungambakkam. The old one is still great - its open till 1 30 in the night. so people going home after Sathyam...feeling like having a smoke and wouldnt mind some food for the sake of your buddy...go to crescent. GO FOR THE COCONUT SOUFFE....yo will enjoy it.

Close to the old one, the new crescent is great. We have our get togethers there. excellent service. Dont mind the beauty queen in the next table. Lest she should start minding you. The grapes are always sour here though you know what i mean.

5. MILAN. Choolaimedu high road. when your pockets are almost empty. and stomach complaining. Go for BEEF roll /chicken ROLL. and any soup. then your regular fast food items like this fried rice / that with naan / whatever.

OK I feel satisfied after this community service. Hasnt been too bad of a first blog. stay tuned..book mark even.
